Health Guarantee

All Yorkton puppies are guaranteed to be vet checked, inoculated with first shots, de-wormed, and tattooed prior to delivery to the purchaser.

Furthermore, all pups are purebred and will be registered with the Canadian Kennel Club.

Pups are guaranteed against the following, as well as any other established hereditary defects for a period of two years from the date of purchase.   Should a defect appear within this time period the breeder will replace the dog with another pup upon return of the affected dog along with a written evaluation from a qualified veterinarian.   If a replacement puppy is not available or desired by the purchaser; the full original purchase price will be refunded.

Hereditary defects

            1) Entropion, Distichiasis, and Trichiasis (eyelid deformities that cause irritation to the cornea due to abnormally positioned eyelashes).

            2) Hereditary cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy (eye disease that can lead to blindness ).

            3) Hip dysplasia

            4) Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM)

            5) SAS (hereditary heart defect)

            6) Von Willebrand’s disease (blood disorder in which the dog becomes a bleeder).

            7) Monochidism and Cryptorchidism (absence of one or both testicles)

Note: hip x-rays must be read by a qualified radiologist at the “Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals” for dysplasia ratings before the dog may be returned.

Eye examinations must be completed by a qualified ophthalmologist before any dog is returned with hereditary eye defects.

Suspicion of SAS must be confirmed by a qualified cardiologist.

The breeder also guarantees his puppy free of any sickness at the time of sale and will replace any puppy returned within 48 Hours of the sale, providing, the puppy is accompanied by a written certificate of non-health from a qualified veterinarian.  If a replacement pup is not available at the time of return of this puppy, a full refund of the original purchase price will be given immediately.   

Should problems of temperament develop, that are not typical of a normal Labrador Retriever, the dog will be replaced with another puppy. If a replacement puppy is not available within one year, or the purchaser does not desire a replacement puppy, the full original purchase price of the dog will be refunded.   Affected dog must be returned alive to the breeder for his decision as to the dog’s fate.

In return the purchaser must meet the following conditions:

·       The dog must, at all times throughout his/her life, be provided with proper care and housing including regular exercise. 

·       The dog must be given an annual checkup by a veterinarian, and given all booster vaccinations recommended by him.

·       The breeder will be given first option to repurchase the dog should the purchaser not be able to keep him/her for any reason.  Under no conditions will the dog be taken to an animal shelter or pound to be resold.

·       The purchaser will, from time to time, advise the breeder of the dogs progress, and will not hesitate to contact the breeder with any problems or questions that the purchaser may encounter.
